Eastern India is regarded as the nation's most bird-rich region, with over 850 different kinds of birds living there. The region includes the Eastern Himalayas, which are symbolized by a section of incredibly untamed mountainous terrain that runs along India's northern border. It is approximately located between longitudes 87° and 97°30´ E. and latitudes 26°30´ and 28° N. It is the most humid region of the whole Himalayan chain due to its proximity to the sea and the influx of the moisture-laden southwest monsoon winds. Compared to the Western Himalayas, the timberline, alpine zone, and snow line are higher because to the lower latitude and comparatively milder temperature. Situated in the foothills, surrounded by heavily forested slopes that appear to be adjacent to large snow-capped mountain ranges, are moist, steamy tropical valleys. The Eastern Himalayas have a rich and varied flora and fauna that may be unmatched in the world due to the sudden juxtaposition of so many diverse biotopes or life zones, which range from nearly plains level to above 6000m, and from tropical heat to arctic cold.
