When you think about Leh Ladakh, you'll see pictures of arid landscapes and vibrant prayer flags that signify the region's Buddhist and spiritual practices. Ladakh, which is geographically close to Tibet and was formerly dominated by Tibetans, has managed to preserve Tibetan culture, including Tibetan cuisine, Tibetan architecture, and Tibetan Buddhist temples. Some of these monasteries are centuries old, and they are renowned for their ethereal beauty and history. In addition to their religious significance and the spiritual experience they provide, the monasteries of Ladakh give tourists an opportunity to engage with an ancient world through the thangkas, artifacts, texts, and statues (some of which are several meters high!). Observing monks' religious studies, hearing them chant in Tibetan and Sanskrit in monastic assembly rooms, and participating in local and state-wide festivals that feature masked dances and music are all ways to learn about what monks do in a monastery. When visiting Ladakh, one can explore a variety of monasteries, also known as gompas. Usually complexes consisting of temples, assembly rooms, courtyards, stupas, libraries, and monks' dormitories, these monasteries are constructed in the traditional Tibetan architectural style.
In
the morning, board your aircraft from Delhi to Leh.Greetings from
Leh! Leh, surrounded by mountains, is one of the most charming, hassle-free,
and traveler-friendly destinations in India. A dagger of high rocky ridge,
topped by an imposing Tibetan-style palace and fort, dominates the ancient
town, which is dotted with stupas and dilapidated mudbrick homes.
You
will be picked up from the Leh Airport and driven to the hotel in a private
vehicle. Go to the hotel and check in. You will have the entire day to yourself.
The elevation of Leh town is over 3,000 meters above sea level. Unwind and get
used to Leh's high elevation.
Proceed
to Leh for local sightseeing after breakfast. Begin by touring the Hall of
Fame, a museum built by the Indian Army to honour the valiant Indian troops who
lost their lives protecting the nation during the Indo-Pak conflicts. It serves
as a reminder of the enormous sacrifices our military have made to protect our
nation.
Next,
pay a visit to the stunning Gurdwara Pathar Sahib, a Sikh temple constructed in
1517 to honour the founder of the Sikh religion, Guru Nanak Dev, who visited
the Ladakh region. Then, near Leh, make a halt at Magnetic Hill, also known as
"Cyclops hill" or "gravity hill." The arrangement of the
space and the surrounding hills produce a stunning optical illusion. It's a
downward road, the hill road. When rolling downhill, objects and vehicles on
the hill road may appear to roll uphill against gravity.
Visit
Sangam, a beautiful location where the Zanskar and Indus rivers converge, after
that. On the river, you may try daring rafting. Visit Alchi Monastery
thereafter; it was constructed between 958 and 1055 CE. The monastery complex's
wall murals reflect the artistic and spiritual details of both Buddhism and the
Hindu lords of that era in Kashmir. Along with opulent wood carvings and
artwork that are almost baroque in design, the compound also features enormous
sculptures of the Buddha.
Visit
the Buddhist white-domed stupa known as Shanti Stupa, which is situated on a
hill in Chanspa, when you return to Leh in the evening. It was constructed in
1991 as a component of the Peace Pagoda project by Japanese Buddhist Bhikshu
Gyomyo Nakamura.
After
breakfast, travel via the Khardung-La Pass (18380 feet), one of the highest
motorable roads in the world, from Leh to Nubra Valley. Leh is about 159
kilometres away from the valley. Leh, Phyang, Khardung La, Khardung, Khalsar,
Diskit, and Nubra Valley will be the itinerary.
You
will pass two Indian Army checkpoints, South Pullu and North Pullu, which are
incredibly scenic locations that showcase the splendour of nature, both before
and after Khardungla Pass. You will see some lovely villages along the way,
where you may see people going about their daily lives on their farms.
Arrive
in Nubra Valley early in the evening. For those seeking peace and a chance to
engage with the Ladakh tribal society, this valley is a pristine place.
Northwest of the valley are the Sasser Pass and the well-known Karakoram Pass,
which link Nubra and Xinjiang (China) and are both part of the Silk Road.
Upon
arrival, check in at the hotel. The motel in Nubra Valley is where we will have
dinner and spend the night.
Explore
the Nubra Valley after breakfast. See the largest and oldest monastery still
standing in the Nubra Valley, Diskit Monastery. The 100-foot-tall statue of
Maitreya Buddha, dedicated by the revered Dalai Lama, is the main draw of the
Diskit monastery.
Visit the Hunder dunes after that. Beyond the spiritual and cultural aspects of Ladakh, the Nubra Valley is home to the charming Hunder silver dunes. Hunder Sand Dunes, at 4,000 meters, are breathtakingly gorgeous. The desert is broken up by the lovely scenery and a calm, meandering brook. The Hunder Sand Dune appears to be a dreamland with its breathtaking scenery set against the snow-capped mountains. Don't miss the opportunity to ride the uncommon Bactrian Camel, also known as the double-humped camel. Next, pay a visit to the Panamic Hot Springs. High levels of sulphur are present in the hot spring water, which is thought to have numerous therapeutic benefits.Return to the hotel by nightfall. We'll have dinner and spend the night at the Nubra Valley hotel.
Drive
to Pangong Lake from Nubra Valley after breakfast. The elevation of this
endorheic Himalayan lake is around 4,350 meters (14,270 feet). It stretches
from India to China and is 134 km (83 mi) long.
By
late afternoon, arrive to Pangong Lake. Arrive at the campgrounds or cottages,
which provide a breathtaking view of Pangong Lake and unmatched vistas of the
surrounding mountain ranges. Its water has a beautiful hue of blue, is salty,
and is perfectly clear. When the sun is shining brightly, it looks its best. You
will have the evening to yourself. You can take a Yak safari or just walk along
the lake's edge.
The campgrounds and cottages close to Pangong Lake will be the location for dinner and the night.
Drive
to Leh from Pangong Lake after breakfast. See Thiksey Monastery, one of the
best specimens of Ladakhi architecture, on route. This monastery is 20
kilometres from Leh, perched on a solitary hill. It is well-known for
resembling the Potala Palace in Lhasa. This monastery is well known for its pilgrimage
activities, architectural features, exploration, and sightseeing.
Arrive
at Leh late at night and register at the hotel. You will have the evening to
yourself.
We'll have dinner and spend the night at the Leh hotel.
After
breakfast, leave the hotel by checking out. Your private car will drop you to
Leh airport for your return journey to Delhi.
